Update to Windows 11

Follow the steps below to install Windows 11 on your device and ensure compatibility with Sansan. This help page will be deleted when the next version is released.

Go here to update to the latest version of Windows 10.

 

Preparation

  • This update only applies to devices running Windows 10. For Windows 8.1, no action is necessary.
  • Some device models may not be able to update to Windows 11. Refer to the pre-check 2 for details.
  • If you're using Windows 11, no update is needed. However, if you upgraded to Windows 11 as per these instructions, follow Changing Your Device’s Settings below.

  • The update can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly. Please do any urgent scanning of cards beforehand.

 

 

Pre-check 1: Checking the scanner app ID

1. First, confirm the ID shown in the "[Important] Please update your Sansan Scanner" email.

 

2. In the Scanner App menu, tap "Menu" and tap "Settings".

 

3. Confirm that the ID on the Scanner App screen matches the one listed in the email. If it does, continue on to the steps below to update.

 

Pre-check 2: Confirm if the device can be updated

Some devices may not be able to update to Windows 11. Please check the following.

First, check to see if your device is in the Microsoft Surface GO series.

The Surface GO series is a freestanding tablet PC with no keyboard, as shown below.

 

If it's a Surface GO series device

Check the device management number (TabletXXXXX) on the sticker on the tablet.

For numbersTablet32195 or below
→These cannot be updated, so they will be replaced with a Windows 11-compatible device. Please contact our support center.
For numbers of Tablet32196 or above
→These can be updated. Follow the procedures on this page.

 

If it's not a Surface GO series device

Check the device management number (TabletXXXXX) on the sticker on the tablet.

For numbers Tablet25595 or below
→These cannot be updated, so they will be replaced with a Windows 11-compatible device. Please contact our support center.
For numbers of Tablet25596 or above
→These can be updated. Follow the procedures on this page.

 

 

Update Steps

1. Tap "Menu" > "Version Information" in the Scanner App and confirm that the version is 3.1.2201.2400 or higher.

 

If the version is below 3.1.2201.2400, the Scanner App may not start properly after upgrading.
Start the browser, click "Download" and tap "Open File" in the upper right.
If the download screen (below) doesn't appear, enter "https://scan.sansan.com/ScannerApp/publish.html” (without the quotes) directly into the address bar.

 

2. Shut down the Scanner App: [Power -> Close App (Exit Application)]

 

3. From the desktop screen, enter “winver” (no quotation marks) in the search bar in the lower left. Confirm that Windows 10 is running, then close the window.


※ If you're using Windows 11, no update is needed. However, if you upgraded to Windows 11 as per these instructions, follow Changing Your Device’s Settings below.

If you’re on Version 1709, it should look like this.

 

4. Open Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge.


5. Enter the following URL and choose [Update Now].
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

 

6. If you receive the message [Do you want to run or save…?] choose [Run].
If you are using Microsoft Edge, tap on "Open file".

 

7. The message [User Account Control Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?] displays. Choose [Yes] and wait for the next message.

 

8. Windows 11 Install Assistant will begin. When [Install Windows 11] displays, choose the [Accept and Install] button.

If the message "Use the PC Health Check app to check compatibility" shows, the device cannot be updated to Windows 11. Please contact the Sansan Support Center for a replacement.

 

9. You’ll see [Step 1 of 3: Downloading] and the update will begin.
* Please be aware the full update may take several hours.

 

10. When the update is complete, [Your PC needs to restart to install Windows11] will display. Restart the device or it will automatically do so in 30 minutes.

 

11. If "Sign in with Microsoft" is displayed, click Cancel

 

12. From the desktop screen, enter “winver” (no quotation marks) in the search bar and verify you’re updated to Windows 11.

 

13. Close the window after verifying.

 

14. Open [Settings].

 

15. Choose [Apps] and Choose [Apps & features]

 

16. From the [Apps & features] screen, click the [Uninstall] button on [Windows 11 Install Assistant].

 

17. After [This app and its related info will be uninstalled.] displays, choose [Uninstall].

 

18. The [User Account Control] screen will open. In reply to [Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?], choose [Yes].
Close the settings display when the uninstall screen closes.

 

19. Changing Your Device’s Settings

(1) Download patch.zip here .

 

(2) When [What do you want to do with patch.zip?] is displayed, choose [Save].

 

(3) When the download is complete, choose [Open folder].

 

(4) pong press on patch.zip, and when the right-click menu is displayed, click [Extract All...].

 

(5) On the [Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders] screen, choose [Extract].

 

(6) Click setup.bat in the patch folder to select it, long press on it, and when the right-click menu is displayed, choose [Run as administrator].

 

(7) When [Windows protected your PC] displays, choose [More info]. When [App:setup.bat Publisher:Unknown publisher] displays, choose [Run anyway].

 

(8) Select the icon ( ) when it appears in the system tray.
[The User Account Control] screen will open and [Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?] will display. Choose [Yes].

 

(9) The command prompt screen will display. When [Setup completed.] is displayed, close the screen.

 

 

20. Finally, reboot the device by touching the Windows icon in the lower left and choosing [Restart]. Your device is now updated.
